Overdue Post

Hello. As I write this I am sitting in a condominium in Dillon, Colorado looking directly onto the snow covered Rocky Mountains and listening to Luka Bloom (see the picture on the right - this is the actual view I'm looking at right now). I'm alone and I've planned on writing this for some time.

Welcome to my blog. I've been playing with it over the past few months. Now I think I'm ready to send everyone a link to this page rather than send you the long emails. Best part for me is that you can comment back to me right here. Hopefully that is so simple that you all take a minute to say "G'Day."

Where to start... Alan and I didn't send out one Christmas card. In fact, I think we've not done that several years in a row. We did get a basket full of cards from you though. It is great to know that you're still out there and to see photos of families as they grow and change.

We've come to the US for a month long visit with friends and family. Our friend Michael Rootes came with us (or perhaps I came with Alan and Michael - that's another story). We started in Arizona, made a short trip to Rocky Point Mexico, went to Boulder to acclimate to the altitude, and are now taking a break after two days of skiing. Copper Mountain and Winter Park have been our destinations so far. Vail beckons to us tomorrow (Saturday).

(CELCIUS ALERT) We've gotten word of the 40+ degree days in Sydney this week. I thought you might be interested to know what it's like here. Today the high in Dillon will be 1 degree (surprisingly, in Boulder - 4000 feet below us - the high today will be -10 degrees!). Scottsdale, Arizona will get to 11 degrees (that's about normal). Rocky Point will be 13 degrees.

This has been the most relaxing vacation I've ever taken. I've had time to sit and do nothing. Time to think. Time to consider. Time to play my guitar. Time to breathe. I occationally catch myself thinking about business and I deliberately meditate away to another place. (Thanks for introducing me to yoga, Sue!)

See the flickr image on the top right of this page? Well, I've posted photos of our trip for you to have a look at - don't worry, I didn't upload them all. Just a small selection so you can see who we're with. Later on, I'll give the whole gallery a thorough scrub and post a full set.

There are four more places I'll be visiting over the next few weeks. Denver next week, Daytona Beach, Florida the following weekend with Douglas, then I'm off to Napa Valley and, finally, San Francisco. Alan and Rootsey will be coming back to the mountains a few times next week to continue their downhill fix - I think I'll have had enough. I'll hopefully just get some time to meet up with old friends from ICG.

Well, the boys are back from their Dillon shopping adventure, so I think I'll sign off for now. But I'll be back with some stories and more updates. FYI, you can syndicate this page (RSS) and then you'll know when I add stuff. If you don't know what that means - that's ok. I'll still send a link when I add something substantial.
