Candles: The Three Wick

Hello. This might be an informative post for people who like candles. My friend Angela asked me about my 3-wick candle last night (see beautiful picture).

She thought that perhaps because the sides were... well... sides, that the candle wasn't burning properly. But that isn't the case at all.

What I like about candles is the character they develop as they burn. I like the uneven edges and the glow from a flame below the surface. See how the whole candle is glowing, not just the flame - it's beautiful.

Candles are, in a sense, alive. As the fuel burns away, the flame changes the wax according to the surrounding air flow and the temperature. And air flow and termperature are different in a room all the time, so when you burn candles at different times of the day, or in different seasons, they burn differently.

Anyway, I just make sure to keep this candle lit for at least 6 hours. While it burns, I might check the wicks every now and then to make sure they are sitting up straight and are evenly spaced. If I keep the candle lit long enough, a single pool of wax forms, and then when I snuff out the candle, I just give it a little hug on all sides and bend in the edges a bit. I don't deform it or break the wax off - that would change the character. Every time I light it, I just make sure to get the pool of wax as far out to the edges as I can. The candle burns out and down. And I get 200 hours of glowing pleasure.

Not every candle will do this. My candles are made from great wax. The absolute best. You can try, but the wax in most candles won't soften to the edges like the wax in my candles.

Want to buy some? I sell them, too. Anywhere in Australia. Check out my site at www.wlcenterprises.com/candles for details. I'm sure I'll talk lots more about candles in future blogs. Have a candle nightmare? Please share it in a comment.

Bye for now. WLC.

Silverhair

Well, here we are! Finally!

I've been in the band for almost three years and this is the first photo of all eight of us. We were together for less than one minute (and had to round up Angus and Andy twice to get them to stand still). But all in all a worthy effort. Thanks to Hannah (our photographer)!

Silverhair... you can book us for your next party. We rock and roll. :)

Goodnight everyone - I'm off to bed now. Love the blog really. Kind of addicted after 3 days. Will have to see how I'm going after another week.

If you're in Sydney - don't forget that there's a Wen & Bendy show on tomorrow night - Friday at the Crown Hotel at Elizabeth and Goulburn. 9:30-1:00. Be there! Nighty-night. WLC.

I'm excited!

I've changed the blog address - great! this is awesome - WendEmail is in the 21st century. FINALLY!

I'm leaving the office now- got to go to a place where I can write uninterrupted (I'm doing most of the interrputing - BTW).

Bye for now.

When SHAK's Sixty-Four...

My mother turns 64 today. Happy Birthday, Mommy!

This morning, Ben told me that for his mother's 64th he sent her a bottle of wine and a Valentine's card. My quizzical look must've given it away - but I had no idea why he did that. Congratulations if you already got it - for those like me - here are the lyrics to the song.

When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now

Will you still be sending me a valentine

Birthday greetings bottle of wine

Later this morning, my mom informed me that I haven't said much on the blog yet. I laughed and explained that I really hadn't tried to say anything. I'm just trying to learn how to use the damn thing. But since I keep asking for a response - this is bound to get one....

Mommy, I love you very much, and I hope you love me, too. If you do, just add a comment here to let me know. If you don't - I'll understand (sob!).

Second Blog

Hi - I'm feeling a bit stir crazy - wish I could type faster. All I have to do today would take 3-4 hours if I could only type as fast as I can speak. But, alas, it will likely not even get done. Of course, taking a few minutes out of my day to type here is not helping. :)

I thought you might want to see a photo of me. Even if you don't, I want to know how to upload one, so I'm going to give that a try now.

Well, that was pretty painless. This is a picture of me with my friend Glenn A Baker. The picture was taken by the photographer to the stars, Bob King. I spent the night in a limo with those two gentlemen on August 4th when we went all around Sydney promoting Jamm 4 Genes, a fundraiser for the Children's Medical Research Institute. We had lots of fun.

I wonder if I need to type enter 2x to get a space between paragraphs on the blog. So far I haven't, I've only hit enter one time. We'll see... (Answer - you have to hit enter 2x to get the space - I'm anal enough to do that now in the edit mode....)

I like the font.

Anything else - or am I just stalling going back to work?

You're right - I'm stalling - bye for now - this might get more interesting later. WLC.

P.S. No one has commented on my first blog - I told 2 people about it and got no comments. Apparently you have to register with Blogger to comment - that's not so bad. I really would like a comment every now and then. Come on! Puh-leeze!

Day Two

Well, as I type this, I don't even know where the content will go - I couldn't easily see how to log in. I'd better publish and figure that out before proceeding too far. Sorry for making you watch my learning curve.

First post

Hi. Setting up the name of this blog was time consuming. My first ten choices were not available. Bummer. I would have liked it to be named Compromise after my baby boy - RIP. But neverfear - I found something else near and dear to my heart - Janis Joplin. I'll write more later, but I wanted to at least get this started. My goal is to have at least one comment on every single post, so I'll try to always end them with a question for you to ponder and respond to.

Now for the first question.... What was the last great live music experience you had and why?
